Sabrina Carpenter may be a “Busy Woman,” but nothing will stop the singer from attending her third Met Gala. “It’s fun to create timeless looks with incredible designers that interpret the theme,” Carpenter told Vogue exclusively Monday morning, between final fittings and glam appointments. “My look for every year has been totally different. I love to see what everyone wears, and I’m really excited about tonight’s look.”
To walk the blue carpet, Carpenter is wearing a Louis Vuitton bodysuit with ground-skimming tails, an ensemble that embodies the dress code Tailored for You. “My look is a dramatic take on a dandy tailcoat with an elongated train,” Carpenter says. “It mixes Savile Row tailoring with Parisian corsetry. The striped burgundy wool is hand-embroidered and finished with crystal buttons.”
Of course, no Met look is complete without the glam—and Carpenter finished hers with Prada Beauty. The singer, who is known for her flushed cheeks and defined eyes, has been a fan of brand since she dropped “Please, Please, Please.”
“It’s important for my glam to look like my own,” she says. “I want it to meld seamlessly with my outfit without overpowering it. I have a signature…and then I add different elements to change it up depending on the colour or style of my look.”
Tonight, that philosophy yielded something classic, thanks to Prada Beauty’s new Light collection. “I love how hydrating the lip oil stick is,” she says. And then there’s the Glowing Highlight Powder, which Carpenter says is “super lightweight and the best accent to my beauty look—it’s long-lasting, which is important because it’s a long night.”
Of course, Carpenter is a pro when it comes to making a long-lasting impression—whether she’s playing tribute to famous blondes or pin-up girls of the past. As she puts: “The glam can really make or break the outfit.” Wise words indeed, from a true beauty inspiration.
