Tonight, the 2025 Met Gala will see an array of A-listers don their finest ensembles—and many of them have created original pieces in collaboration with designers that tie into the theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” But singer Lana Del Rey chose to don a look straight off the spring 2025 couture runway instead, selecting an elegant Valentino design from Alessandro Michele’s recent Vertigineux collection, shown back in January. (Del Rey is a constant muse to the designer.)
Her long, flowing dress was designed in shades of black velvet and brown satin. On the back, encrusted lace was displayed among a black bow with feathers. It was a refined and subdued take on tailoring—the silhouette featuring a clean bodice and soft, pleated skirt.
This marks the singer’s fourth time attending the Met Gala. Her last appearance was in 2024, when Rey slipped into an avant-garde design by McQueen that referenced the late Alexander McQueen’s fall 2006 collection. In 2018, the star also attended with Michele during his tenure at Gucci, in his ethereal design featured a sacred heart chest plate and winged headpiece. No matter the theme, Rey always pays close to attention to the dress code—and is sure to put her own, ethereal spin on it, too.
